Q & A

Q:

What should your clients know the most about you?

That I take my role in their lives seriously and with humility. That I have worked hard to gain expertise that might help them, and that if I don’t have a skill they need, I will acquire it, or bring in a trusted partner who does.

What kind of clients work best for you?

Institutional clients who are truly motivated to do right by their constituencies.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

The various and disparate lines of business that we bring together under one roof. We have a team of true experts that span the entire spectrum of personal and institutional financial services.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

Helping a client meet their goals. A non-profit recently hired me to manage their endowment. This endowment’s success will help support children with severe developmental disabilities and if I do a good job, more people are helped. What could be more rewarding and incentivizing than that?

What does the world need now more than anything?

Kindness. Specifically in financial services, we need advocacy and transparency on behalf of the consumer. There are too many opaque structures in our system that reinforce apprehension and distrust of financial professionals.
