Biography

Martin Sullivan has over fifty years of experience in insurance and financial services and is a Senior Advisor at Lightyear Capital LLC, a New York based private equity firm. He also serves on the board of Lightyear’s portfolio companies, Inszone, King Risk Partners, Lighthouse and Wren Sterling Financial Services, in addition to being Chairman of Hartford Underwriting Agency Ltd and various subsidiaries of MSIG Holdings (USA) Inc.

He spent thirty-seven years with AIG Inc. (1971-2008), holding a number of management positions of increasing responsibility in London, Dublin, and New York, latterly as President and Chief Executive Officer. In 2010, he joined Willis Group Holdings Plc as Deputy Chairman and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Willis Global Solutions.

He was the first President of British American Business and remains an Honorary Director. He is also a former President of the Geneva Association and Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council. Among his many non-profit activities, he is a trustee of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund, a trustee and director of The Sutton Trust in the UK and Chairman of the Business Advisory Council of the St. George’s Society of New York.

In addition to being an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Martin was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2007 and an honorary doctorate from Hofstra University in 2008. In 2020, he was made a Freeman of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
