Leadership Team

Biography

Masha is a Partner in the Denver office and serves as the firm’s Colleague Engagement Officer, a role dedicated to fostering a culture of communication, care, connectivity, and celebration. She believes that engaged colleagues drive better outcomes for clients and is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, informed, and empowered to succeed. Her long history building Cerity Partners, combined with her passion for our clients, puts her in a unique position to help all colleagues experience success at Cerity Partners. Masha is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team.

Masha began her career at Cerity Partners on a client-facing team before transitioning to the role of Chief of Staff for Kurt Miscinski, CEO. She created and led the firm’s first Human Capital and Marketing functions before handing these off to new leadership. Masha then developed the firm’s first Practice Management and Client Experience functions, successfully organizing and acting as the glue pulling teams and partners together across different functions and markets. She has been part of the integration of more than 30 teams into the Cerity Partners ecosystem, ensuring that each new team felt welcomed, supported, and connected. In response to Partner feedback that teams and markets wanted better transparency on their practices, Masha worked to stand up the Business Analytics team, prioritizing data initiatives and improving practice analytics, business management, and compensation. Masha is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and has played a key role in Personnel Development, Succession Planning, and Partner Promotion, as well as leading Partner Offsite Planning Committee.

With over twenty years of experience in financial services, Masha brings both deep client-facing experience and a passion for developing high-performing teams. She started her career in the Bank One Scholar Program, a rotational management program that included a full scholarship to business school. Upon graduating, she marketed interest-rate derivatives to middle-market clients. Following the Bank One/JPMorgan merger, Masha moved to JPMorgan Europe, where she led surveillance on an $8 billion structured investment vehicle before joining the investment desk of Wharton Asset Management (London) as a portfolio manager. She later moved to Los Angeles to become one of three portfolio managers for Terwin Money Management, specializing in structured products. The 2008 financial crisis presented a career shift opportunity, and Masha returned to JPMorgan, joining the Financial Leaders team in private wealth management.

Masha lives in Denver with her husband and two kids, where they reap the benefits of the beautiful outdoors. You can find them on the golf course most Sunday afternoons—it’s only a matter of time until the kids start beating the parents.

Q & A

Q:

Who inspired you to pursue your career in wealth management?

My Dad was a bond salesman. I grew up going to the trading floor and loved the energy. It prompted a love of the markets.

How is Cerity Partners different from other wealth management firms?

Cerity Partners has colleagues who can provide under one roof “one-stop-shopping” to help clients with all their financial needs. Our ability to provide true comprehensive wealth management with services in tax prep, planning, all investment advisory, estate and gift planning, and retirement planning. We also have a variety of unique talents and expanded networks that help us support all the needs of our clients across generations.

What does the world need now more than anything?

Ethical, trusted and creative leaders.

Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were destined for a leadership role?

Building consensus and using empathy and communication to lead a group to take action was something I demonstrated early, as in getting the 4th grade chorus to protest the Hawaiian-themed holiday program. The staged walk-out was not well received by my mother or the choral director.
