Christopher Hemstead

Chris is the Head of Practice Development at Cerity Partners and a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Chris works directly with each practice to create and execute specific growth strategies, develop new private and institutional client relationships, and facilitate key firmwide strategic initiatives. In addition, Chris oversees the firm’s practice reporting and analytics.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Chris was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he was Deputy Head of Workplace Advisory Solutions in the Asset & Wealth Management division.  In this role, he was responsible for the growth and strategic planning of the workplace business, as well as its business analytics, corporate program management, sales enablement, and strategic partnership functions. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs Ayco and Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management (formerly United Capital). And prior to that, Chris was the General Counsel of Goldman Sachs Ayco.

Chris started his career practicing law at Holland & Knight LLP (Boston office), specializing in tax credit transactions, including the syndication of affordable housing and historic rehabilitation tax credits.
