Biography

Rich is a Partner and co-leads the Cerity Partners Ventures practice. In this role, Rich works with leading corporations to establish and manage their venture capital programs.

Rich joined Cerity Partners in 2024 as part of the merger with Touchdown Ventures, a firm he co-founded in 2014. Rich has spent his entire career—more than 20 years—in roles focused on corporate growth and innovation. Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Rich co-founded Touchdown Ventures, a pioneer of the “venture capital as a service” model.

Prior to co-founding Touchdown, Rich spent seven years in venture capital and strategic development at Comcast, where he covered a variety of sectors ranging from enterprise software to consumer technology. Before joining Comcast Ventures, Rich spent nearly ten years in operating roles for media and technology companies. This included leading strategic development for Comcast Interactive Media and a role in corporate development for Sony Pictures. Earlier in his career, Rich worked in investment banking for Lehman Brothers.

Education

  • MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania
  • BA in Business Economics and Communication from UC Santa Barbara

Highlights

  • Helped found and manage venture capital programs with Kellogg's, T-Mobile US, Erie Insurance, Westfield, and Apollo Education among others
  • Led or overseen diligence and/or negotiations for more than 50 venture investments
  • Graduated as a Palmer Scholar from the Wharton School and with Highest Honors from UC Santa Barbara
  • Founding board member of Naturally Bay Area, a non-profit that supports an ecosystem of innovators in the food and natural products community
  • Frequent speaker, panelist and lecturer on topics such as corporate innovation and venture capital
