Nick is a Principal in the Fort Worth office with more than 10 years of experience in financial services. He specializes in wealth management while also supervising the day-to-day operations of this location. Nick also serves as the Principal Financial Officer for the Broker/Dealer utilized by the firm’s Texas and Colorado offices.
Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Nick was a Managing Director with Karsten Advisors, providing comprehensive wealth management and tax planning. Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years with Scottrade, where he first honed his investment knowledge as an intern and then later worked with self-directed investors, educating them and facilitating their investment philosophies and approach to portfolio management. Identified as a superior provider of client service, Nick spent 5 years serving as Branch Manager at 3 of Scottrade’s Fort Worth locations. He was responsible for finding complex solutions for high-net-worth clientele in search of portfolio diversification and professional asset management while managing a staff of investment consultants and compliance responsibilities for the offices.
Who inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?
Growing up, my parents were small business owners, spending countless hours building their practice while helping the families they engaged with. Their compassion for helping their community was passed on to me. I choose a wealth management career as I witnessed my parents build their businesses, all without having a partner to help them make the strategic decisions to assist them build their personal wealth and properly utilize and leverage their businesses for their long term benefit. Today I spend my time making a significant impact on the lives of our clients while helping them build towards a better financial future.
Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were made for this career?
Due to our intense integration into the lives of our clients through our holistic wealth management offering, I have the good fortune to participate in life changing conversations. Every time I see one of our advisors make a multi-million dollar difference in the estate they are building for their legacy through tax/estate/financial planning I feel tremendous personal and professional fulfillment.
Why is your work important, especially today?
In thinking through the vast areas of wealth management, I believe it is important to have a resource to understand our clients needs and find them the best resource to fulfil those needs. Our clients benefit from the breadth and scope of our firm, our resources, and our best-in-industry talent. All of these resources are communicated through one voice- the advisors that I partner our clients with.
What should your clients know the most about you?
I am passionate about family, friends, community, and making an impact to those around me. I am thankful that I am in an industry that can make an impact in the lives of others, and for the opportunity to spend my time helping those that are seeking assistance.
What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?
I spend my time with friends and family where I listen to heir desires for their financial futures and find ways to make it happen. As complex tax planning and alternative investments are not often found in our industry, my friends and family are quick to grab my ear!
What does the world need now more than anything?
