Lyle is a Principal based in our San Francisco office. He provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to clients. Working with clients to analyze and implement investment, tax and estate planning strategies that help them to achieve their financial goals and objectives.
Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Lyle worked for three years as a Wealth Advisor at BlueSky Wealth Advisors where he worked directly with clients formulating and implementing financial planning and investment management strategies while managing their day-to-day advisory needs. Before relocating from South Africa to the United States in 2018 Lyle worked as a Financial Planner at The Portfolio Bureau, a large RIA based in Cape Town, South Africa. Lyle has over nine years of financial planning experience having started in 2013 as a Financial Planner.
What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?
I somewhat fell into financial planning when I was in my early twenties and was offered a job my a friend’s father, who had his own wealth management business. I soon realized that I enjoyed meeting and building relationships with clients and also found that financial planning is so much more than just managing a client’s investments.
What should your clients know the most about you?
That I’m always willing to go out of my way for my clients. Whether it’s making time for a quick call, personally delivering documents, or doing some extra hand-holding, I like to make sure my clients feel like I am there for them.
What kind of clients work best for you?
I enjoy working with clients in the early accumulation years as I feel that is a similar stage to where my wife and I are in our lives and therefore have a lot of experiences to relate to. I also enjoy working with clients nearing or in retirement where I’m either able to demonstrate that they’re able to sustain their lifestyles throughout retirement or help them to determine what retirement will look like.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?
My best day would be a day where I have a couple of back to back meetings with clients where I leave each meeting having either explained a complex topic in terms that the client could grasp, done a deep dive into the client’s financial plan and given them the answers they were looking for, or just feeling like I really connected with the client.
