Q & A

Q:

Who inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?

My father was the biggest influence on my decision to pursue a career in financial management. A hardworking individual, he instilled in me a strong sense of financial discipline and a passion for investing from a young age. I started saving and investing money earned from birthdays, babysitting, and other small jobs, learning the power of compound interest early on. This discipline even helped me buy my first car at 16.

Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were made for this career?

One of my first clients was a widow whose husband had passed away unexpectedly. She had never been involved in managing the family’s finances and suddenly found herself in that role without the necessary background or financial knowledge. I could sense her deep anxiety and unease about the responsibility and uncertainty of her financial standing. Together, we developed a comprehensive plan, but more importantly, we focused on building her understanding and confidence in managing her finances. Helping her regain control and ease her worries was a pivotal moment that reinforced my passion for this career.

Why is your work important, especially today?

I am passionate about Socially Responsible Investing. For over 15 years, I have been helping clients align their values with their investments. This work feels especially relevant today, as more clients consider their legacy and view their portfolios as a reflection of their beliefs, not just a number.

What should your clients know the most about you?

I genuinely care about our relationship and my clients’ well-being. It’s tough for me to see client statements when markets are down, and I take the responsibility and trust they place in me very seriously. My goal is to do everything I can to help clients create a sound financial plan—and, most importantly, to stay committed to that plan through all market conditions.

What kind of clients work best for you?

I enjoy working with clients where I can make a positive and meaningful impact on their lives. Whether it’s helping them send their kids to college, planning for retirement, or buying their dream home, I thrive on guiding clients through their important life goals.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

I believe our scale, expertise, and collaborative culture set us apart in the marketplace. By employing a specialist approach, clients receive top-notch advice from subject matter experts across investments, planning, and tax matters, ensuring a comprehensive and personalized service.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

As a father of three, I’ve developed my emotional intelligence and empathy over the years. I’ve learned that wealth management isn’t just about performance and numbers—it’s about listening, understanding, and supporting clients through all market conditions. The guidance and reassurance provided during turbulent times often have a greater impact on clients’ well-being than any specific investment decision.

What does the world need now more than anything?

Patience, compassion, and a better ability to listen.
