John is a Partner and Market Leader for the Bloomfield Hills office. He is a member of the Investment Committee and has over 27 years of Investment Advisory experience working with high-net-worth families, foundations, not-for-profits, and endowments. John advises on over $1.3 billion of private client assets on planning topics such as retirement planning, cash flow analysis, college planning, and investments. John provides objective, independent advice for his clients.
John started his career with a lead money management firm in Birmingham, Michigan. From there, he moved to a leading national brokerage firm. After successfully building a practice he was recruited by Deloitte & Touche and founded their Investment Advising Practice in Michigan. He also chaired the Investment Policy Committee and served as practice leader for the Detroit office. John was involved in many aspects of developing the infrastructure of Deloitte’s investment practice in that region, including performance reporting, research, and deliverables to the marketplace. He was the lead contributor and educator on a national basis of tax-aware investing strategies within the Deloitte Investment Advisory Practice.
What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?
Putting myself in someone else shoes. That helps guide me to suggest a better thought-out solution for them.
What does the world need now more than anything?
Patience, understanding and compromise.
What should your clients know the most about you?
I am a thoughtful, grounded person that fights through challenges with an even keel. I enjoy challenges and like to achieve success for them.
Why is your specialty important, especially today?
Patience and being a student of concepts is my specialty. It has always served me and my client base well in any time period.
