Q & A

Q:

What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?

I sort of fell into this industry. Right after college I was placed in an admin role at a very small RIA. I had studied psychology in college and thought I wanted to work in HR, though I have always liked numbers and preferred math classes in school. Once I started in this industry, I took to the work very quickly and really enjoyed what I was doing. In a way, this industry combines my preference for numbers with my educational background in Psychology. You get to form meaningful relationships with people and help them find ways of achieving their financial goals.

What should your clients know the most about you?

I genuinely enjoy helping people and I want to see people succeed and achieve their goals.

What kind of clients work best for you?

I work with a broad range of clients – retirees looking to preserve their wealth, to those more seasoned in their careers looking to plan for retirement, to younger individuals with a sudden inflow of wealth. Every type of client has their own unique puzzle to solve and that’s what I particularly enjoy.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

The personalized service we offer our clients really sets us apart. We care about our clients as people, we celebrate their triumphs and sympathize with their struggles. Our clients are more than just a portfolio of assets and we take the time to learn who they are and what goals they have and then we take into consideration all aspects of their financial lives to help them achieve their goals.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

I am a true believer that there is always more to learn. I think it’s important to be well-rounded and constantly expand your knowledge on a variety of topics, not just regarding finances. From reading books and articles, to listening to podcasts and webinars, I find myself feeling more fulfilled when I am learning new things.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

My best day is when I can make a difference in someone’s life. I truly enjoy helping people and doing my best to make someone’s life just a little easier. This is such a rewarding career because we really make a difference in our clients’ lives and often times help them through some of the most challenging times in their lives.
