Q & A

Q:

What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?

I grew up in a big family with both of my parents whose families immigrated from the Philippines so the family culture is constantly caring for the well-being of the collective. I loved growing up surrounded by my grandparents, aunts, cousins and siblings. There was often someone around to support you and to learn from. When we cook, we feed everyone. Inter-generational relationships are important. You are cared for and you help and contribute where you can. This way of life contributed to my natural ability to excel in roles of assistance, hospitality, creative problem solving, having empathy, and finding joy in connecting with people.

Why is your work important, especially today?

I am the first point of contact when clients come into the office or give us a call. My presence and energy are what set the tone for interactions with clients, prospects or anyone reaching out to us at the San Francisco location. Their experience with me is important, especially today when the world has been through many trying experiences. A kind and mindful person is quite valuable to have around.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

I cultivate happiness, I look for the lessons, I find joy in the every day, and I make sure to dedicate time to things I love. Some of my favorite things to do are to be creative, make art, sing, practice yoga and meditation, be outdoors in the sun, go birding, try new things, and spend time with loved ones. It nourishes me and in turn my mood emanates outward. I bring this energy into the workplace, which is why it is my pleasure to assist my colleagues and the clients I interact with.

What does the world need now more than anything?

Empathy. Mindfulness. Healing.
