Q & A

Q:

What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?

I was working for a big company and not finding any satisfaction from my work because I wasn’t adding value to people and wanted to find a profession where I could both help and do what I enjoy.

Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were made for this career?

When I looked on my bookshelf and realized that most of my books were about personal finance, investments, and other financial topics. It’s what I gravitated to even before it was a profession.

What should your clients know the most about you?

That I care and have a deep sense of responsibility to them and their families. My skill is in making a complex and overly stimulated world more simple to understand, leading to more confident decisions

What kind of clients work best for you?

Clients who want and value advice and are open minded about potential solutions or approaches. It could be as simple as someone who wants peace of mind knowing their life savings are managed well to a complex family with many moving parts who wants someone to make sense of it all.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

To steal a phrase from earlier in my career, I think Cerity Partners “plays to win” meaning that we are not satisfied with the status quo and want to keep pushing the envelope. Many firms, even well established powerhouses, rest on their laurels.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

Maintaining healthy mind, body and spirit to be level-headed and calm when providing advice. And of course, staying informed on a broad range of subjects.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

It may sound boring but a very productive and engaging client review meeting where we cover a lot of ground is a simple but satisfying day. My best days also can include solving a thorny problem for a client that perhaps they didn’t know was a service we offered – going above and beyond the typical scope of the relationship.

What does the world need now more than anything?

Kindness, love, understanding, compassion and open-mindedness
