Biography

Gary is a Partner in the Los Angeles office.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Gary was the Chief Investment Officer, a Managing Director and Principal at Covington Capital Management. He also co-founded the firm and served on its’ management committee. Gary was responsible for directing strategic policy and managing the investment team. He also worked closely with clients and served as a portfolio manager. With over 40 years in the financial services industry, Gary was previously Managing Director and portfolio manager for U.S. Trust in Los Angeles.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Vietnam War in Adak, Alaska and Guam, in the specialty field of satellite communications. Gary has applied the discipline and leadership skills he developed in the military to manage and grow the firms he has worked at. He is passionate about coaching youth basketball and instilling coach John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success.
