Biography

Jessica is a Senior Associate in the North Bay office. As a member of the Wealth Management practice, she works closely with the financial advisors and other professionals to provide a direct communication conduit for clients to understand the work that the company does on their behalf.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Jessica was a Client Relationship Specialist at Brouwer & Janachowski, and was a member of the Client Services team. She assisted clients with administrative support related to their portfolio, custodian statements, and other client service issues. Prior to joining Brouwer & Janachowski, Jessica held various operational and client service roles at Copeland Insurance Services, Portal Publications and Southwest Airlines.

  • Bachelor's degree from Merced Community College and the University of Maryland

Q:

Who inspired you to pursue your career in financial management? How?

My colleague Anne Johnston knew me in my prior role as a life & health insurance broker and suggested my skills would transfer well to finance. I am so grateful she did, the client relationships and complexity of the various financial situations keep me engaged and excited about this work. I am inspired every day by the reward I feel when solving problems and helping others.

What kind of clients work best for you?

We have the most wonderful clients! I enjoy all personalities and find that our differences are what keep things interesting.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

What is happening at Cerity Partners is very exciting. Clients get to keep their boutique local office services with the bargaining power and benefits of being part of a large firm. It’s a unique culture with a depth of expertise and a truly collaborative environment that positions everyone for growth; clients and colleagues alike.

Why is your specialty important, especially today?

These days it seems that everything is done online and we’re all expected to be experts. I am the friendly voice that will answer questions or provide direction when needed, always taking extra care to listen and mind the details so you don’t have to.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

Most days are best days! I am blessed to work in a lovely office on the water in Mill Valley, CA with a great team. The advisor I work with, Jack Scaff, is dedicated, authentic and works tirelessly to achieve the best results. Clients are easily the best part, ours are kind and intelligent and I am often on the receiving side of a call or email with thanks for our efforts.
