Biography

Richard is a Partner and the Market Leader for Los Angeles. He balances his firm management duties with time spent working directly with the firm’s clients. As a portfolio manager, he helps affluent families, foundations, and non-profits define and realize their goals. Richard is an expert in complex wealth management strategies, including trust and estate planning, retirement planning and tax strategy.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Richard was the Chief Executive Officer at Covington Capital Management. Before joining Covington in 2006, he was Chief Operating Officer and senior portfolio manager with Brown Brothers Harriman in Los Angeles. Previously, Richard served as portfolio manager at U.S. Trust, and as an analyst for Bank of America Capital Management and Security Pacific Investment Management.

Born in South America, Richard is of Cuban-descent and fluent in Spanish. He is passionate about sports, traveling, and photography.

  • B.S. in Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles
  • MBA in Finance from California State University, Northridge
