Richard Azarloza, CFA, CFP®

Richard is a Partner and the Los Angeles Practice Leader at Cerity Partners, where he directs the firm’s regional strategic initiatives while maintaining an active client advisory practice. With over 30 years of experience in investment management, he oversees more than $1 billion in client assets, serving high-net-worth individuals, affluent families, business owners, private foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

Richard works closely with clients to define investment objectives, establish sound policy guidelines, and develop customized portfolios aligned with their long-term financial goals. He specializes in complex risk and wealth management engagements, encompassing trust and estate planning, retirement strategy, tax optimization, charitable planning, and multi-generational wealth transfer.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Richard served as Chief Executive Officer of Covington Capital Management. He previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager at Brown Brothers Harriman in Los Angeles and earlier served as a Portfolio Manager at U.S. Trust. He began his career as an analyst at Bank of America Capital Management and Security Pacific Investment Management.

Of Cuban descent and fluent in Spanish, Richard brings a global perspective to his relationships with clients and colleagues. He maintains a broad range of personal interests including sports, travel, photography, public policy, and a lifelong commitment to learning.

Richard holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Certified Financial Planner certification.
