Q & A

Q:

Why is your specialty important, especially today?

I lead our insurance efforts within our financial planning team. Being based in California, the homeowners/wildfire insurance space has become very challenging for many of our clients. We’ve been able to help clients work through difficult renewals and find cost-effective solutions in this tough marketplace.

What kind of clients work best for you?

I enjoy working with thoughtful people who are good at communicating and listening. I work well with both younger people with years of planning needs ahead of them, and people who are further along in life and enjoying their retirement. My best client relationships are those in which communication is open and easy, and I also like working with people from whom I can learn.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

I read as often as I can and listen to podcasts. Lately, I’ve been staying up on the economist podcast and behavioral finance-related podcasts that usually fascinate me.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

The best days are when I’m able to help a client in a meaningful way, whether it’s by solving a problem, finding a planning solution, or helping to alleviate a worry. That’s when I feel like I am making a positive difference in my client’s life.
