Sean is a Principal based in the San Francisco office. He provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to private and institutional clients. Taking a deep and proactive role in the management of his client’s wealth, Sean incorporates financial planning across all aspects of a client’s life or business.
Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Sean was a Wealth Manager at B|O|S working closely with clients to create advisory plans that covered a variety of services from a team of professionals including tax and legal advisors. Sean initially joined B|O|S as a member of the Client Associate Team where he handled day-to-day client administrative and operational needs.
What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?
During my senior year of college at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), I had to construct a hypothetical investment portfolio for one of my finance courses. I credit this experience with sparking my interest in pursuing a career in financial planning, and I haven’t looked back since.
Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were made for this career?
After graduating from college, one of my close friends confided in me about his student loan; he was unaware that his unsubsidized loan had been accruing interest throughout college. What this specific incident highlighted for me is the importance of learning about personal finance as early as possible and the value of having a trusted person to go to with financial planning questions. I love this career because it allows me to help folks avoid the financial planning pitfalls that they may not realize are out there.
What should your clients know the most about you?
I’m a dedicated advisor who will always do my utmost to help my clients with any financial planning or investment issue that comes their way.
What kind of clients work best for you?
I work well with clients who enjoy a personal connection with their advisor and are able to trust that I will always do right by them.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?
I consistently stay up to date on news and trends in the finance industry and I attend financial planning conferences that cover topics relevant to my clients’ needs.
How would you describe your best day doing what you do?
My best day involves helping a client navigate a complex financial planning question that has been on their mind for a while. An added bonus is if I can meet with my client in-person or over video conference to do so.
What does the world need now more than anything?
The world needs to focus on uniting and taking action on the most pressing issues facing our planet.
