Biography

Sam is a Partner and Market Leader for the Boston office. He has more than forty years of experience assisting individuals and families with asset management, individual investments, and complex estate, tax, and gift planning strategies. Sam enjoys the intellectual challenge of identifying and developing solutions to otherwise complicated problems. He believes that education is the cornerstone of all personal and organizational growth, so his advice comes with an educative delivery that benefits his clients’ collective knowledge.

Sam joined the firm in December 2020 when Cerity Partners acquired Bainco International Investors, the independent wealth management and investment advisory firm he founded in 1987.

  • B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Vermont
  • M.S. in Systems Design and Management from George Washington University

Q:

Was there a specific incident in your life that made it clear you were made for this career?

A significant prospect had personally signed on a real estate development that threatened his entire net worth. We brought him on and saved his entire financial well being.

What should your clients know the most about you?

I believe that most things are possible through hard work and commitment. Daily self-actualize can help with this process.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

I constantly take an interest in business owners and respect what they’ve developed. I also enjoying assisting with younger people’s careers.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

Identifying to a prospect that they were paying excessive fees in a poorly planned investment strategy in a manager of managers approach. Internally, it’s a great day when I’m able to promote longtime team members to Partners.
