Q & A

Q:

What inspired you to pursue your career in financial management?

After completing a year of community college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so I took a position with an RIA firm many years ago as a receptionist. I moved around in various operational positions, including trading, before specializing in “move money” for all clients. In an effort to learn more about the industry, I studied and passed the Series 65 exam. In 2008, at the onset of Palladium, I started in a management position providing assistance with the day to day operations of the firm, and the supervision and oversight of the staff.

Why is your work important, especially today?

Managing employees is important as everyone needs direction and guidance. You can’t meet your goals if you don’t understand the expectation. Communication is key. Managers must lead by example. Happy employees equate to happy clients.

What should your clients know the most about you?

That I am part of an amazing team and our collective efforts, along with hard work and determination, will ensure a strong client relationship based on trust and thoughtful planning.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

It’s the personalized services to clients and the vast knowledge of resources available to meet an array of financial needs. Our client relationships are much more than an a account number, they’re friends who have entrusted us with managing their wealth.

What do you do in your personal life that helps you help your clients?

My mother recently passed away from Alzheimer’s after a long battle. My sister and I split the time caring for her so that she could remain at home. We manage a lot of elderly client’s portfolios and their family members could be going through similar life events. I hope to be helpful in sharing resources from my own personal experiences.

How would you describe your best day doing what you do?

My best day is when there is utter chaos and everyone steps in to assist. It’s a good reminder that we all work together, regardless of the task, to provide exemplary service to our clients. Our quarterly mailing of a client’s investment reports is a good example. We’re on a tight timeline and it requires everyone coming together to get the job done. We mail approximately 800 investment packages and it requires a coordinated effort to complete it quickly and efficiently.

What does the world need now more than anything?

Kindness. Empathy. Love. The character “Ted Lasso” is exactly what we need more of in our world. A coach with the ability to listen, mentor and finding the best qualities in everyone from his football players to the guy mowing the stadium’s lawn. A great leader recognizes that everyone’s contributions are part of a firm’s overall success.
