Biography

Dan is a Partner who works with individuals, families, and businesses to help them achieve their financial goals through comprehensive financial planning and tailored investment strategies. He is based in Chicago and splits his time between Chicago and Florida. He has over 30 years of professional experience in financial services and brings a varied perspective to wealth management. His approach to managing wealth is driven by the specific needs of the client and then implementing the appropriate investment strategy for that client. Dan believes in the fundamental principles of strong diversification, low-cost investing, and the idea that markets are best navigated with the avoidance of large losses. His disciplined approach emphasizes diversification, cost efficiency, and risk management to preserve capital and adapt to changing circumstances.

Before joining Cerity Partners, Dan co-founded T2 Asset Management, where he served as a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager, managing multiple investment models for advisors and high net worth individuals. His wealth management philosophy focused on integrating all areas of planning to include cash flow analysis, tax planning, investment management and estate preservation.

Previously, Dan was a Vice President with Hartford Investment Management (HIMCO) and later with Transamerica Investment Management, where he was responsible for communicating the firm’s investment strategy and economic outlook to the financial community and the public at large. He spoke at numerous conferences and on panels regarding current economic conditions and their impact on the financial markets.

Before his tenure at HIMCO, Dan served as Vice President at Zurich Scudder Investments, where he managed over $1 billion in fixed income assets for endowments, foundations, pension plans, institutions, and high-net-worth individuals. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, he contributed as a member of the Investment Policy Committee, serving as the Taxable Fixed Income Strategist. In this role, he developed taxable fixed income allocation strategies for Scudder’s Private Investment Counsel.

Earlier in his career, Dan was a trader at Asset Allocation & Management where he traded structured assets, ABS, MBS, CMOs and other fixed income assets for insurance companies that totaled in excess of $4 billion under management.

Dan received his MBA in Finance from DePaul University. He is a CFA® charterholder as well as a CFP® professional, and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.
