Biography

Matthew is a Partner in the New York office. He has experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families as their trusted advisor, creating comprehensive plans to manage their financial goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Matthew was a Vice President at EMM Wealth. His primary responsibilities included asset allocation, investment plan implementation, financial planning, portfolio monitoring and managing client relationships. He also led the firm’s next-generation initiatives, teaching and curating EMM University – an annual, one-week immersive financial education program offered to high school students.

Q:

Who inspired you to pursue your career in financial management? How?

My father. Although he was an attorney, he obtained the CFP® certification to ensure he had the proper understanding to wisely plan for our family’s future. That always stuck with me, and was a main factor in my decision to become a financial advisor.

Why is Wealth Management important, especially today?

Financial literacy is so important and working with a trusted advisor can make a huge difference. I believe it is important to be able to create a plan to achieve your goals and objectives and even better to have the discipline and advice to adhere to your plan during both good times and bad. It is very easy to panic, and my job is to help clients separate their emotions from the objective.

What should your clients know the most about you?

My family is my everything. I try to get to know my clients on a very personal basis and in return I like to share personal details of my life. It is important that my clients view me as a human being and not as a corporate entity.

What differentiates Cerity Partners from other firms in our space?

Our people and our drive to serve our clients to the best of our abilities. The RIA space is extremely crowded and I believe service is a HUGE differentiating factor. We pride ourselves on our service and responsiveness.
