Brandon Grimm, CFA, MBA

Brandon is a Partner in the West Des Moines, Iowa office. With deep experience across both traditional and alternative investments — including private equity, private credit, and real estate — Brandon brings an institutional perspective to portfolio construction, helping clients navigate complexity with discipline and confidence. His approach is grounded in rigorous analysis, thoughtful implementation, and a commitment to delivering choice, clarity, and confidence in an ever-evolving market environment.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Brandon served as Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Gilbert & Cook, where he led the firm’s investment strategy and oversaw the portfolios that support clients’ long-term financial success. Brandon was responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, managing risk, and designing strategies that aligned with each client’s financial plan and long-term objectives.

Brandon began his career at Principal Global Investors, where he focused on institutional private market investing, specializing in commercial real estate and securitized lending. This experience provided him with a deep understanding of capital markets and alternative investment structures — insight he now leverages to help high-net-worth families, institutions, and nonprofit organizations access sophisticated investment strategies typically reserved for larger institutions.

He is passionate about connecting investment strategy with real-life outcomes, helping ensure that portfolios are not only well-constructed, but also aligned with what matters most to each client. As a member of Gilbert & Cook’s Leadership Team, Brandon was committed to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Brandon embraces challenges both professionally and personally. He is a dedicated athlete and has completed a full Ironman triathlon — a reflection of his discipline, resilience, and commitment to excellence.

He and his wife, Laura, live in Johnston with their daughters, Scarlet and Violet, and their son, Dominic. As a family, they enjoy an active lifestyle filled with travel, golf, boating, concerts, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with family and friends.
