Thomas McCaffrey, CFP®, CFA

Thomas is a Principal in the West Des Moines, Iowa office. He plays a key role in helping clients grow and preserve their wealth through thoughtful, disciplined investment strategy. Thomas brings a balanced perspective that combines deep investment experience with a comprehensive understanding of financial planning.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Thomas served as a Portfolio Manager at Gilbert & Cook, where he worked closely with the firm’s investment and advisory teams to design, implement, and monitor portfolios aligned with each client’s financial goals and long-term plan.

Holding both the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designations, he is equipped to evaluate investment opportunities within the broader context of each client’s overall financial picture — helping ensure that portfolio decisions support both short-term needs and long-term objectives.

He is passionate about building lasting relationships and values the trust clients place in him to help guide important financial decisions. Thomas approaches his work with discipline, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering clear, thoughtful recommendations — helping clients feel confident in their investment strategy, even in changing market environments.

A lifelong Hawkeye fan, Thomas enjoys cheering on the University of Iowa and staying connected to his roots. He and his wife, Taylor, live in Ankeny with their two daughters and new baby boy (Leo), where they enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and staying active in the community.
