Robert E. Thieman, CPA, JD

Bob is a Principal in the Louisville office. He serves as in-house legal counsel for the firm and is responsible for assisting the general counsel with internal legal matters. Bob has over 40 years of legal, public accounting, and industry experience in the areas of business law, contracts, acquisitions, regulatory compliance, federal, state, and local taxation, real estate, dental benefits, estate planning, and probate.

Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Bob served as an Advisor and Senior In-House Counsel at ARGI Financial Group. Earlier in his career, he spent approximately five years in public accounting. Following that, Bob provided legal services to licensed professionals, business owners, privately and publicly held companies, fiduciaries, startups, and nonprofits through Stoll Keenon Ogden in Louisville and then through his own firm. In the state and local tax area, he drafted tax legislation and regulations, testified before the Kentucky General Assembly, protested and litigated tax controversies, and taught planning and audit strategies.
